While we love and treasure our trusty steeds, we must keep them safe. Sadly, we have recently experienced a spate of bike thefts from the RACV City Club car park, . All bikes were locked with thick, coiled wire-strand locks – however these have proved no match for the bolt cutters carried by well-prepared thieves.
RACV takes pride in providing a place to store your bike, however we must remind members that storage of bicycles is at the owner’s risk. RACV assumes no liability for the loss or theft of any bicycle left on premises.
Most importantly, we encourage everyone to check your current bike lock and decide if it is up to the task. If in doubt – time to upgrade.

A major new Club member benefit was recently announced by RACV President & Chairman Kevin White at the 2015 RACV Annual General Meeting.
“Club members make extensive use of the resort network, and we want to recognise them with additional benefits,” said Mr White.
On 12 November 2015, a new Club Member only accommodation price was introduced at all RACV Resorts, which incorporates a 50% discount off the standard non-member accommodation rate.
The new benefit will be available all year round at RACV’s eight resorts, and it can be used when, where and as many times as Members wish.
To access the new rate, Club members must book directly with the resort or via the RACV website. Members will need to have their member card available at the time of booking, and again at check-in.
The new Club member rate applies only to the room / cabin / villa / apartment / precinct / campsite / caravan site occupied by the Club member. Members should note that it does not apply to other rooms booked or paid for by the Club Member for the accommodation of extended family or groups of friends.
The new Club member rate will always be the best accommodation rate available, but it cannot be added to other offers, discounts or promotions.
For Club Members who already have a future booking at an RACV Resort, the new Club member rate will automatically be applied and charged at check out.
The discount does not apply at the City and Healesville properties, which are maintained exclusively for Club Members and their guests.
RACV Resorts are located at Cape Schanck, Cobram, Goldfields, Inverloch, Torquay, Hobart, Gold Coast and Noosa.

Narelle Autio, Watercolour series (2001)
Narelle Autio’s evocative and ethereal photographs from her acclaimed Watercolour series are located near the City Club swimming pool. Acquired for this location, Autio’s work reflects the RACV Art collection’s strong emphasis on travel and recreation in Australia.

Born in Adelaide, Narelle Autio began her career as a documentary photographer working for newspapers in Sydney and Adelaide. In 1995, she moved overseas to work in the UK and US. On her return to Australia in 1998, Autio said, “arriving back in Australia proved to be an awakening for me.” She became fascinated with the Australian people’s involvement with the sea, undertaking a 14-month circumnavigation of the coast, photographing swimmers in oceans, rivers and estuaries.

The three works currently displayed at the City Club continue her interest in the leisure activities of Australians.
Photographed off the coast of NSW, Autio plays with colour and light to transform the everyday activity of swimming into a sensual and otherworldly experience.

RACV Club Sommelier
Marg Ryding 70th Birthday Celebration
The champagne flowed when RACV Gold Club member Marg Ryding celebrated her 70th birthday with nearly 100 friends in July.
Marg couldn’t have been happier with the event. “Without exception, every aspect of the evening exceeded all expectations. The venue was perfect, dinner was restaurant five-star quality with beautifully presented, elegant table settings and the attentive and friendly staff from car park to wait staff truly first class.
“Every single RACV team member combined to deliver seamless service with friendly, professional attitude,” she says.
Marg celebrated her birthday with pre-dinner champagne and canapés, followed by a four-course sit down dinner at City Club’s Pavilion. Music was provided by The Baker Boys five-piece band.
She has been an RACV Club member since 1982 and regularly stays at Healesville Country Club, Royal Pines and Noosa. Marg uses One Spa at City Club, Noosa and Healesville and plays golf at Healesville, Royal Pines and Cape Schanck.
She enjoys all the Club has to offer and says that being retired gives her the time to fully appreciate and enjoy the diversity of excellent facilities, including staying at reciprocal clubs worldwide.
